Arch Rock is easily reached by a short nature trail.
Slightly over a mile, the Barker Dam Nature Trail will take you past a small lake in the area known as the Wonderland of Rocks.
This flower arrangement was on the short hike to Morten's Mill. It features Ocotillo, Beavertail Cactus, Brittlebush and Mojave Lupine.
I saw these interesting cloud formations while strolling on the Cap Rock Nature Trail.
The view from Fortynine Palms Oasis is reached after a moderate 1.5 mile (one way) hike.
Fortynine Palms Oasis as seen from the trail.
I was on the Mastodon Peak Trail when I saw this flock of 75 White Pelicans fly overhead. They were a part of a larger flock of at least 200 which I had seen earlier in the distance.
The north half of the moderate 1.7 mile Skull Rock Nature Trail loop is full of wonderful rock formations like these.

I was there the second week in April after a fairly wet winter and many wildflowers in bloom (I'm not an expert, so I can't guarantee the identifications). All of these pictures were taken in the park except for the larkspur and scale bud, which were taken at the nearby Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, and the hummingbird photo which was taken at one of the botanical gardens at The Living Desert in Palm Desert:
