Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge
Looking out from one of several viewing platforms on the North Pond Trail. The trail is an easy half-mile walk out to a low viewing tower. The mosquitos were brutal while I was there in late November, but I did get to see a flock of White Pelicans, dozens of Great Egrets, White Ibises, Blue Herons, Snow Geese, Meadowlarks, American Avocets, Dunlins, Black-bellied Plovers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Brown Pelican and a Kingfisher. There was also a Sora just outside the visitor center.
A flock of Snow Geese flying overhead.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore
A spot on the beach near the south end of the island, between Frisco and Hatteras Village.
Sanderlings on the beach.
The Bodie Island Lighthouse.
